Summer mountain holidays in Samoens, France

Throughout the summer months Samoens is an ideal base for a huge range of outdoor activities. Take a look at just some of the facilities mentioned below.

The Leisure Park

Situated in the heart of the village, this is a great place to spend the day, particularly with children.

Paddling, learner and 25m pools

Archery with instruction (covered, so good for any wet days)

Indiana Park

A fantastic woodland area with an assault course of ladders, walkways and rope slides amongst the trees. Thrilling but safe fun thanks to the harnesses. Kids as young as four can have a go.

The Giffre river

Flows rapidly through the village and provides a host of adrenaline white water activities including rafting, hydrospeed, kayaking and canyoning. Ecolorado rafting organise all manner of watery excitement including a multi-activity week for those of you who can't get drowned often enough! They are based just a mile from our chalet.

More water sports

Water skiing and jet skiing are available on a small lake nearby and, of course, on both Lake Leman(Geneva) and Annecy, both of which are under an hour away. Those of you who enjoy or even want to learn windsurfing and sailing will also find good facilities on the same two lakes. We particularly recommend the Hobie cats at Annecy, especially if there's a good breeze. These two websites are useful:

For a more tranquil day there is permit fishing at Lac de Joux Plane and trout fishing at Lac de Gers with a licence.

Cycling

Samoens is a superb base for both mountain and road biking. There are three bikes you can use in the chalet or you can hire in the village or bring your own. Our garage ensures secure bike storage. Follow the link for more details.

Golf

Follow the link for details of nearby courses. Those less skilled should head for the mini golf in Samoens, Sixt or Verchaix. Or you could practice driving or putting in the leisure park.

Airborne activities

Pegase air Samoens. Samoens is a mecca for parapenting. This local outfit offers tandem flights and courses leading to a licence.

Mont Blanc helicopters offers executive transfers, scenic flights from Samoens and full pilot courses from their base at Annemasse.

Takamaka arrange skydiving at Annemasse.

A huge range of options from gentle walks to adrenaline filled rushes, all set in spectacular scenery.

Ready to chill?

Don't forget to take some day trips. Chamonix, steeped in mountaineering history, Annecy with it's old town, lake and castle, Evian the fabulous spa on the south shore of Lake Geneva and the city of Geneva itself with it's own old town, music festival and very reasonably priced watches (go on, treat your loved one!) are all less than an hour away. Wander the narrow streets, sip a wine by the harbour, see Alinghi, Americas cup winner or take a romantic evening lake cruise with dinner. Enjoy!
